Can cause gastritis or inflammation of the skin, impaired circulation, and methemoglobinemia (impaired transport of oxygen from the blood to the tissues of the body). Used in various fats, margarine, sauces. Sometimes enter into the composition of packaging materials.
E460 (E 400-499 Tires, thickeners, stabilizers and emulsifiers)
Comment : Although there are no known side effects from the use of sodium hydroxide in small amounts in larger quantities can be very harmful. Banned in Australia for that reason.
Used to counteract the acidity.
E525 (E 500-599 Mineral salts, pH regulators and humectants)
Comment : Mineral salt which is used in toothpaste, white paints, detergents. Can be extracted from rocks or bones of animals. Sometimes used to reduce the acidity of the wine and increase the stability of frozen fruits and vegetables. In high doses is toxic.
Comment : Used to acidification of food products. Derived from citrus fruits. Found in biscuits, frozen fish, cheese and other dairy products, infant food, cakes, soups, rye bread, soft drinks, fermented meat products.
E332 (E 300-399 Antioxidants, minerals and acidity regulators)
Comment : Used to acidification of food products. Prepared from the phosphate ore. Moisture in cheese and their derivatives. No evidence of adverse effects.
E343 (E 300-399 Antioxidants, minerals and acidity regulators)
