Vitamin A helps form and maintain healthy skin, teeth, bones and soft tissues and membranes. It is also known as retinol because it produces pigments in the retina of the eye.
Vitamin A promotes good vision, especially in low light. It may also be necessary in reproduction and lactation. It is found in the liver of animals, whole milk, carrots, spinach, cabbage, squash, broccoli, and some fortified foods.
